Full of 96–98% sulfuric acid, this tank would hold about 15,000 lb of acid (about 15 lb per gallon). It is rated 1.9 SG, above the roughly 1.84 specific gravity of concentrated acid.
This is a single wall tank. To capture leaks and acid fumes without a separate dike, consider a HDPE double wall tank.
Up to 75% acid, PVC, CPVC and polypropylene fittings are rated Excellent; above 75%, specify PVDF fittings. Seal bulkheads with Viton® gaskets. No welded flanges in the sidewall for sulfuric acid. See fittings.
This tank is insulated with closed-cell spray foam rated R-6.7 per inch. Add heat tracing where winters are cold.
Before you order
Gaskets, fittings and metal hardware all have to handle your concentration, not just the tank.
