Acid Tanks |
Storing acids requires extra care to
insure worker and environmental safety. The kind of acid,
the concentration of acid in solution and the storage
temperature of the acid are all pieces to the puzzle for safe
storage. We have tanks for the storage of Sulfuric Acid as
well as many other types of acid tanks. |

Hydrochloric acid is an aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride
gas. Hydrochloric acid is an important and widely used chemical.
The largest end uses for hydrochloric acid are steel pickling,
oil well acidizing, food manufacturing, producing calcium
chloride, and ore processing. Hydrochloric Acid is very toxic
and extremely corrosive. In concentrations above 20%, consider a
bolted, sealed manway to keep fumes from escaping.
The use of a fume scrubber should be seriously considered. |

Acetic acid, glacial is a clear colorless liquid with a
strong odor of vinegar.
Flash point 104 F. Density 8.8 lb / gal.
Corrosive to metals and tissue. Used to make other
chemicals, as a food additive, and in petroleum
production. It has a specific gravity of 1.05. |

CHROMIC ACID is used in Chrome Plating, making of Ceramic Glazes
and colored glass. If the chromic acid is to be stored
over 100 F., a tank rated to 2.2 specific gravity might be
needed. If temperatures over 140 F. are involved, HDPE
will not work. |

Phosphoric Acid is used for fertilizer and also in the food
industry (oil, beverages, cheese, canned food, yeast, sugar,
water) and other industries (pharmacy, detergents, animal feed,
metal treatment, textile, pigments. It has a specific gravity of

Nitric acid can be a colorless, yellow, or red, fuming liquid.
It has an acrid, almost suffocating odor. Nitric acid has
a boiling point of 181 F. It is exothemic when exposed to
water and is corrosive when it contacts many metals. |

Citric acid is a pretty weak organic acid that is found in
citrus fruits. Citric acid can be found in many fruits and
vegetables, but it is found in greatest concentration in citric
fruits like lemons and limes. In those fruits, it can make
up 8 percent of the dry weight. |

OXALIC ACID is Colorless and odorless.
It is a powder or granular solid in dry form.
Oxalic acid is an terrific chemical for cleaning purposes. Its
is much like bleach in many of its qualities. Oxalic Acid can be
used for sterilizing household items. It is also a good rust
remover on many different surfaces. Stains on counters, bathtubs
and kitchen sinks can be removed through careful application of
this acid. |
