HDPE resists attack from strong acids and bases. Compatibility charts rate it as very good with sulfuric acid, meaning it doesn’t corrode, soften, or degrade easily. This makes it reliable for long‑term storage.
HDPE tanks can handle the heavy weight of sulfuric acid. High Density Polyethylene tanks have excellent load tolerance, particularly in the bottom third of the tank where stress is highest.
Materials like PVDF or PTFE offer even higher chemical resistance, but they’re far more expensive. HDPE provides a practical balance of performance and affordability for industrial storage.
HDPE is tough. It withstands handling, installation stresses, and minor impacts better than more brittle plastics.
HDPE can be rotationally molded into large, seamless tanks—up to thousands of gallons—making it ideal for bulk acid storage.
